CUSTOMIZATION METASHIFT

Rockstar is shifting GTA 6 towards a much higher level of tactical realism, taking heavy inspiration from Max Payne 3 and Red Dead Redemption 2. Let's dive into the core discoveries revealed in the leaked developer footage.

Deciphering the GTA 6 weapon customization leak breakdown

The developer video leaks confirmed that players no longer pull an infinite arsenal of rockets and rifles out of their pockets. GTA 6 limits your character to a physical carrying capacity: two primary weapons slung over your back and one secondary sidearm holstered at your hip. This structural limitation places a massive focus on pre-planning heists and customizing your chosen loadout before heading into combat.

Rather than simple stats adjustments, weapon attachments now visibly alter weapon recoil patterns, aiming down sight (ADS) speed, sound profile, and ammunition capacity, creating unique tactical roles for every firearm configuration.

The Gunsmith Menu: Attachments & Mod Slots

The leaked menus showed a brand new real-time customization interface. Customization is no longer confined to static Ammu-Nation checkout counters; instead, players can make modification adjustments on the fly at personal workbenches, safehouses, or directly from the trunk of personal vehicles.

Customization tip

Suppressors in GTA 6 are rumored to reduce bullet velocity. If you are engaging in long-range firefights, swap your suppressor out for a compensator to maintain stopping power.

Interactive Gun Cases and Physical Weapon Management

One of the most immersive leaks demonstrated the use of vehicle trunks and localized weapon storage. Players can purchase and customize physical gun cases inside their safehouses. You will be able to store surplus weapons here and organize your equipment systematically. In addition, personal vehicles will act as mobile armories where you can restock ammunition, swap attachments, and switch primary rifles on the go.

Ballistics & Combat Realism

Weapon physics have been redesigned from the ground up. In addition to muzzle attachments, different barrel lengths will affect bullet spread and range. Bullet penetration is also dynamic, meaning high-caliber ammunition will shoot through thin wooden walls and car doors. Tactical players will need to adjust their attachments depending on the environment, using armor-piercing rounds and suppressors for enclosed corridor stealth, or heavy barrels for open-world long-range engagements.
